Animals are unicellular organisms of the kingdom Animalia (also called Metazoa). Their body plan eventually becomes fixed as they develop, although some undergo a process of metamorphosis later on in their lives. Most animals are motile, meaning they can move spontaneously and independently. There are two types of animals vertebrates and invertebrates.
Vertebrates Vertebrates are animals with a backbone. Animals like tease include mammals and birds. Only make up 2% of the kingdom. Has 57,739 species. Also vertebrates are larger in size. Have a highly developed brain as well as a well structured internal skeleton. Invertebrates Invertebrates do not have a backbone. They make up 98% of the kingdom. They have 2 million species. They are small in size and have 30 phyla. |
